Mrs. Shari A.Terry

Founder, Cheif Executive Officer, Grant Writer and Experience in EAGALA, ARIA, EAT, CHA, Certified Instructor

Shari is the founder and CEO of our organization serving currently as President to our Board of Directors, as a loyal volunteer and as the Program Director. Shari is also the Founder of Healing With Horses.

She worked as a Mental Health Counselor through the State of CT from 1989 to 1993. In 1994 Shari was in a severe, near-fatal auto accident that left her disabled and suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury, Horner's Syndrome and PTSD along with many broken bones. She was placed in a convalescent home for some time, but through the use of the horse, Shari began her journey and slow recovery.

Her need and dream of helping others through Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) has come full circle. Shari used her passionate love of horses to create programs in 1998 for her healing journey and for others to eventually use. She has written several programs for safety such as our WRF Safety Program, CIT program, Healing With Horses Therapeutic Riding Certification Programs and Facilitated Safety Programs for Farm Maintenance and Management using basic ideas such as rotating fields and pasture maintenance.

Ms.Rosati is a member of the Therapeutic Riding Instructor's Association with Barbara Fox. Shari is a member of the CT Farm Bureau, CT Horse Council and is a Member of the Lion's Club.  Shari's goal is to protect the well-being and safety of all participants and care for the horses, or our four legged therapists that help guide them through life.

Pam Madore

Secretary of Board Member, B.S. in Medical Technology

Pam earned a B.S. in Medical Technology from Quinnipiac College in 1975. I worked in three Hospital Medical Labs for a total of 32 years. In that time I developed Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Lyme Disease. I was awarded Social Security Disability after years of trying to continue to work, effective 2011. Most recently I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and am doing well. My journey with Healing With Horses began in 2013. I had knowledge of some holistic theories, particularly the Chakra System and developed a hobby of crocheting afghans, creating designs using specific Chakra colors.

Pam was looking to learn horseback riding. When I received an invitation to visit Healing With Horses, I was awed by the energy and multiple programs offered. My first course was Caring With Combs. Later Equine Communication Classes were added. Suddenly I developed a new passion in my life. My former passion had been 15 years of competitive ballroom dancing, but the energy of working with the horses was palpable! My physical ailments were softened and the ‘hands on’ of grooming and leading awakened new possibilities for me.

On one leading lesson I kept looking at Jimmeh, wondering if I was hurting him; or maybe he didn’t want to go where I was leading. That was a cue to him to stop. He needed my determined direction and I had to learn to believe in myself. Now I do volunteer work, anything from taking care of horses to helping with fundraising events. My plan is to be a part of the ‘Healing With Horses therapy farm as long as possible. I already have witnessed fantastic results.
